This past week I had a super cool experience adjusting my friend’s dog. Now, you might be wondering a couple things:
Why would a dog need adjusting?
Why are you sharing this story with me?
Because, like humans, a dog’s nervous system is their most critical system – the master control system. The better the dog’s nervous system is functioning, the better the dog can function, be happy, and be healthy.
For the past 3 weeks, Willow wasn’t herself and couldn’t “settle” into her calm, restful, 10 year old, lazy self.
In December, my friend’s dog, Willow, had a traumatic experience at the groomer’s. Since then, she’s been pacing non-stop, had little interest in her food, been digging and rolling in the dirt in the backyard, scratching at the walls inside the house, and trying to hide under the bed. And interestingly enough, she’s also had a constant head tilt to the left. All these actions were not normal for Willow.
Last Friday, I went to my friend’s house to check Willow’s nervous system for interference (aka. congestion, blockage, or subluxation). And boy, did she have some interference!!
Her brain wasn’t receiving clear signals from her body. No wonder she wasn’t herself!!
You know the saying: Garbage in – Garbage out.
This is exactly what was happening inside Willow’s body! The garbled signals her brain was receiving caused more stress and dysfunction, which caused garbled signals to be sent back out to her body. She was literally all out of whack, causing erratic behavior and constant nervousness.
I provided some gentle, instrument adjustments for Willow, and about 10 minutes later, I left.
But during that 10 minutes we saw a miracle.
Willow nuzzled me a little. Walked around as if taking inventory of her own body, movement, and awareness. She sauntered over to her food bowl and promptly ate the rest of her breakfast from hours ago. She then drank a ton of water and walked to the back door asking to go out.
Once outside, Willow just stood, quietly & calmly, with her nose in the air sniffing all the smells. She was calm!! How wonderful!! My friend and I also noticed Willow’s head tilt was gone! Intrigued, we kept watching as Willow walked around, sniffed the grass, and laid down.
She just laid there, head held high, still enjoying the fresh air and all the wonderful smells floating by. She hadn’t done anything that calm in 3 weeks!!
The power of a clear, uncongested nervous system can be hard to grasp.
I share this story because I want to highlight four critical things about a clear nervous system:
Nerve interference is caused by emotional trauma as well as physical and biochemical trauma.
Signs of nerve interference aren’t just “pain,” but also irritability, nervousness, brain fog, and emotional disruption.
The speed at which the body reacts once your nervous system is clear and can properly communicate is immediate.
The chiropractic adjustment is specifically and solely designed to clear nerve interference and allow your mind and body to communicate clearly – as they are designed.
So, if you want to be sure your body is functioning well, healing well, and your brain and body are properly connected … you should get your nervous system checked for interference.
