Did you GETUP?

“I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.”

You’ve all heard it and probably joked about it – I know I have.  But it’s a real thing!

Last week, I shared a brief intro to a concept called GETUP.

It was developed by Dr. Heather Smith-Fernandez, and shared by Jim Kwik on his podcast.  Recently, I was having a conversation with someone about getting up off the floor, which is exactly what the “G” in GETUP stands for.

Here’s the thing… as we get older, we don’t regularly have reason to get down on the floor.

Some of you would say, “Thank God!” ..ahaha.  But when you’re not getting down onto the floor, then you’re also not practicing getting back up off the floor.  Not only does your brain start to forget how to do it, but you lose the strength to be able to do it.

You younger people are laughing thinking that would never happen…just wait.

How to Get Up Daily

Each day, go to a different room in your house, get down on the floor – check under the furniture for old crumbs, spare change, and that earbud you lost two years ago – and then get back up.

You might find the earbud, and you’ll be strengthening your brain and your body for years to come.
