Unexpectedly on the Ground

Yep – still on it. 

We all think, “oh, if I got onto the ground, I could totally get back up.” 

But what if you unexpectedly find yourself on the ground (yes, falling), would you be able to get back up?

Last weekend, I was hanging out with some friends and one of them shared a story with me specifically related to unexpectedly finding oneself on the ground.  And instead of calling for help, she thought about these recent blogposts and decided she was going to Getup on her own. 

What surprised her – she had to consciously THINK about how she was going to get up! 

It was her a-ha moment to understand why practicing getting up from the ground is critical!

 

So, here’s your challenge for this week:

Go to each room in your house, your garage, and backyard and do the following:  Imagine a scenario in which you might find yourself on the ground unexpectedly.  Then get down on the ground, and get back up. 

And repeat.

Because, c’mon, do you really want to be the old person wearing the Life Alert around your neck?
