Last Thursday afternoon, I went to get adjusted. This morning, I went again.
Now, you may be thinking, “Ohmygosh! What’s wrong that you went twice so soon? Are you ok?!”
Yes! I am great – which is exactly why I went again.
…Huh?
Many people equate chiropractic care and getting adjusted as ‘treatment’ for an ailment. And yes, chiropractic care is very effective with helping people recover from ailments.
However, by FAR the most effective outcome chiropractic care and regular adjustments can provide for your body is keep you healthy.
Here's how – chiropractic adjustments remove the effects of stress on the body.
You and I live in a modern society where we encounter stress every day. There are three main types of stress:
Physical stressors: sitting all day in front of a computer, lifting heavy things -or kids- improperly, bumps, bruises, accidents, slips, falls, etc
Biochemical stressors: toxins in the air we breathe, food we eat, things we drink, lotions and potions we use on our skin and hair, pesticides, herbicides, etc.
Emotional stressors: uh, yeah – “stress”. As simple as trying to get to get out of the house on time or as complex as major life changes.
We are designed to adapt to stress. (SWEET!)
But what happens when the stress is more than we can adapt to??
Our nervous system takes the hit. In order to absorb the stress we can’t adapt to, our nervous system alters it’s function; it becomes subluxated or congested. It stops conducting and sending information to and from the brain properly, which is bad for our health. THIS is the essence of freedom that comes with regular chiropractic care – clearing the congestion in the nervous system so the brain and body can communicate properly. That’s it.
I get adjusted every week to remove any neurological adaptations to stress that inhibit my health.
It keeps my brain fresh and free from brain fog. My digestion is better when I get adjusted regularly. I rarely get sick because my immune system is ON POINT! I don’t have allergies. My blood pressure is normal, as is my heart rate, and breathing. My reaction time is speedy, and my quick wit, well, that is always improving. Ha. My recovery from workouts and injury is quick and full. I sleep solid and great. My emotional state is more stable. I’m able to encounter stressful situations and process them with more grace and ease. All of this because my nervous system is connecting my brain and my body with maximum communication.
So why last Thursday and then again on Monday?
Because my chiropractor is on vacation this Thursday and I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to invest in my health.
