You're Rooting for Langley! ...and you didn’t even know it.
It’s with happy tears I share Langley’s recent healing journey. She still has more road to walk (literally!) and she’s already made miraculous progress.
The decision to share Langley’s intense and deeply heartfelt story took more courage and vulnerability than I expected. And the decision Brent and I made 8 weeks ago to walk with Langley on this path took dedication, courage, and, at points, challenged both our beliefs about healing. The gratitude I have for Brent's love & support of me and Langley during this journey is immense. ❤️
Here’s her story…
Eight weeks ago, while traveling home from India, we learned our oh-so-loved Langley was paralyzed from the waist down.
When we got home, we found the depths of that truth - no back leg movement, no sensation or feeling in her hind or back legs, no deep tendon reflexes, no bowel or bladder control, and, sadly, no tail wagging.
She had a severe spinal cord subluxation (nerve interference) caused by her life experiences during the two weeks we were abroad. She accumulated layers of intense emotional stress coupled with moderate physical stress. These lifestyle stressors culminated in the severe spinal subluxation which caused blockage of nerve signals in her spinal cord at L1. She was a dog paraplegic.
We were beyond heart broken.
And we believed FULLY in this foundational healing principle - The Power that Made the Body, Heals the Body. We KNOW the body is designed to heal and be healthy!
So, for the past 8 weeks, this has been Langley’s healing regimen provided by myself and an amazing group of healing professionals:
Chiropractic adjustments daily. Initially, 3-4x/day. Now, 1-2x/day. By myself, Dr. Virginia Irby, and Dr. Ryan Kremer.
Standard Process whole food supplements (vitamins). Initially, over 60 supplements a day. Now, 35 a day. (As a comparison, I take 25/day.)
Regular meditation and visualization by me on her behalf.
Celluma light therapy at L1 to increase local healing activity and energy production.
Functional nutrition assessments by Dr. Cody McBee and Dr. Ryan Kremer.
PDTR neurological treatments by Ryan Millard.
Cold laser therapy at L1 by Dr Dina Rabo.
Vibration therapy to her feet and spine by me.
Physical Therapy & Rehab to teach her to walk, squat, and sit again, by me with insights from PT Alexa Janicki.
Langley’s progress was very slow and yet very steady. Each week she showed small, incremental signs of increased function and strength. Initially, just wagging her tail, then moving her feet in her dreams, then gaining strength and stability to remain standing on her own, followed by highly assisted and stumbly walking.
Just this past week, Langley’s progress was exponential. She took a few unassisted steps and we were ecstatic! The next thing we knew, she was walking across the room all by herself!
The biggest moment of joy for me was being able to take her for a bona fide walk this weekend!! Albeit her walk was short, she walked unassisted down the street on a leash! She continues to go for short walks daily, each one a tad bit longer than the day before.
The takeaway is twofold.
The Power that Made the Body, Heals the Body. The body is designed to heal and be healthy!
Healing is multi-faceted, takes a team, and takes TIME.
It’s been 8 weeks of intense, daily care: adjustments, therapy, rehab and lots of supplements. AND SHE’S HEALING! In 8 weeks, Langley went from paralyzed to walking. Next goals: running, better bowel control, and jumping into my car.
People used to say Langley won the Dog Lottery because she was rescued into our loving family and has a great life with us. It couldn’t be more true, especially now.
So, keep rooting! She is still on this journey and has a couple big hills yet to climb. Thank you for sending your continual love and good healing vibes for Langley. Next time you're in the office, give her an extra cookie and some loves. ❤️
