How often do you think, “I just wish I had more time for myself because I would…..”
If you’re like me, it’s a regular occurrence – weekly, daily, or many times a day, depending what’s going on in my life. The last couple months I’ve been planning a big fundraising event which drastically decreased my “me” time. I’ve had this wish for more time to myself multiple times a day, multiple days in a row for weeks!
We wait… and wait… and wait… for these big projects or volunteer commitments or parties we’re throwing or (fill in the blank) to be complete so we can have more time to ourselves! I know I’ve been joyfully anticipating the end of the Chico Brewfest so I can have more time for myself again.
But here’s the catch….when you do finally have the extra time for yourself, are you actually filling it with all those “wishes” of what you would love to do?
Or, do you find yourself filling that time with more busywork?
I have discovered that often I don’t actually remember exactly what those “wishes” were! So, I’ve started making a list of things I’d do when I have more time for myself. This way I can actually fulfill my own wishes instead of getting tangled in life’s busywork…which we all know never ends.
Most of my “wishes” are centered around self-investment, self-love, and growth. In the moments I’m making my wish, I’m often giving to others, so it’s natural to wish a gift of time to invest in myself, such as work on my garden, read for pleasure, cook quality meals, meditate more, take Langley to the park, read to learn (woohoo!), etc.
