Life is a Blink

I’m always seeking inspiration and I have many sources of inspiration that flow to me.  Today’s quote is powerful and stopped me in my thinking-tracks.

“What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it.” Unknown

There is a give and take, a yin and yang in life.  In everything we do, we are making a choice to exchange our time, our energy, our money for something else.

Take today, for example: How important is what you’re doing today??

It’s Monday, so it’s likely that most of you are investing your time and energy to earn a wage so you can lovingly support your family.  That is SUPER important.  And the next question is – how valiantly are you investing your time into your work?  Are you proud of the efforts you put in?

Today’s quote is grounding.

It is a starting point for asking, “Is what I’m putting in (my time, energy, money, material item) worth what I’m getting (time, energy, money, material item)?” This thought process can be pretty esoteric.  Let’s bring this down a notch to more reality: It’s a weeknight. You pop dinner in the micro for 5 minutes and then plop down on the couch for the next 3 hours.  It’s only 3 hours, you say.  But it’s 3 hours 4 nights a week, at least 48 weeks a year.  That’s 576 hours… which is 24 complete days.

What you do TODAY is IMPORTANT because you’re exchanging YOUR LIFE for it.

What would you do with 576 extra hours in a year?  Learn to speak a foreign language?  Build a kick-ass shed in the backyard?  Learn to play the piano?  Cook more healthy meals?  Spend more quality time engaging with your loved ones? That’s my personal fave.

Life is a blink.  Choose with intent how you invest your time.
