“Health.”
This word has been used ever more frequently in our society over the last couple of decades. And agreed, it is an important facet of life to focus on. But…
Have you ever stopped to think, or define, what does “Health” mean to you?
Because how can you achieve HEALTH if you don’t have a clear picture of what Health looks like to you?
For some, Health is “Being Healthy”. Ok, great. Same question - what does that look like? Being Healthy can mean a multitude of things, such as
Being able to go for a bike ride or a hike in Upper Park over the weekend and not be fatigued
Doing manual labor in your backyard and recovering quickly
Having the mental stamina to persevere through the day and week without fatigue (THIS is key for all of us who sit at a desk all day!)
Being able to get down on the ground and back up after playing with the dogs or kids or grandkids
Having quality digestion and absorption of the foods you eat
Sleeping well and feeling refreshed in the morning (ooh sounds lovely!)
… and the list goes on.
Health is not merely the absence of disease. It is the balance of the mind, body, and soul.
When you create your own definition of health, think about all these different facets of health and formulate specific, measurable outcomes because this will help you know what to do to strive for Health and when you’ve achieved Health.
