AAA projects 55.4 million people will travel at least 50 miles (if not more!) this weekend.
You probably already know Thanksgiving is the busiest travel weekend of the year. It’s just long enough to get away, but short enough that most everyone travels at the same time. And we all know what happens when one plane gets delayed or there’s even one accident on the freeway – travel gets backed up and congested really fast!
If you thought 55.4 million travelers in one long weekend was a lot – check out these numbers. We have:
7 trillion nerves inside our body
Each nerve can send 500-1000 signals per second
That’s 3.5 quadrillion signals a SECOND being sent in your body!
Holy crap that is WAY more ‘travel’ than the number of travelers over Thanksgiving weekend!
Just like traveling across the state or the country, congestion can happen in your nervous system also.
Congestion (or interference) in your nerve pathways decreases the number of signals sent which creates a state of dis-ease. In short, your brain and body aren’t communicating well.
But what causes the congestion??
Yep, that thing called stress.
And believe it or not, it comes in more than one form. Not just emotional stress – like the kind brought on by work, family, finances, holidays, or travel. But also physical stress, such as accidents, slips, falls, poor posture at your desk all day, or repetitive movements. Aaaannnd… biochemical stress, like sugar, alcohol, dehydration, pesticides, cleaning products, shampoos, cosmetics, environmental toxins, etc. Man! All kinds of things in our modern world that are stressful.
When your body can’t process all those stressors you encounter on a daily basis, your nervous system takes the hit. Congestion and interference in your nervous system ensue.
Well, shoot. How do I get rid of that congestion and interference??
Since the congestion is in your nervous system, you need a solution that directly addresses your nervous system. Good news – it’s easy. The congestion on your nervous system highway is cleared up through Chiropractic adjustments because adjustments work directly on your nervous system. If the congestion is recognized quickly and addressed – cleaning up the ‘highway accident’ is pretty easy. However, if the congestion occurs and then remains for days, weeks, months, or decades, it takes a bigger effort which means more adjustments and a longer healing time because you not only have to remove the interference but also change the stress patterns which contribute to the interference.
In short, getting adjusted directly removes the interference (congestion) and allows those quadrillion signals-per-second to not get stuck or delayed in their travel along on your nervous system highway. This reconnects your brain and your body so you can heal.
Nobody likes travel delays – in the sky, on the road, or inside your body.
You deserve to have easy travel and a fantastic holiday weekend. You also deserve a happy nervous system and good health. My wish for you is both.
Sending love to you and yours for a wonderful weekend creating great memories and celebrating thanks for all you’ve been given. Happy Thanksgiving.
