This weekend we did some good giving!
19 people from our Stratti Team + Family went to Butte Humane Society to help clean up their “back 40” in preparation for an event they’re hosting in May. And, man! Did we have a good time or what!?!
I don’t know about you, but helping others brings a quality level of joy inside – it truly “just makes you feel good!”
There’s a premise I believe: What you give out, you get back. Yeah, it’s kinda like karma. A super-cool thing about giving your time, your energy, your help to others is that not only does it make you feel good inside, but that goodness will also come back to you.
Simple premise. Universal truth.
What you give out, you get back.
Give out good, get it back. Dish out crap, get it back. So, whatever IT is – what you give out, you get back.
This is true not only for your actions, but more importantly for your thoughts.
When we think good things, we receive good things. When we think bad things, we receive bad things.
You may be thinking, “really? I do all this good for other people and I always get the short end of the stick.”
A-HA! And therein lies your challenge. Look at what you’re telling yourself: you always get the short end of the stick. And, my friend, if this is the tail-end to your thoughts about the good work you do…. guess what? You will always get the short end of the stick because you’re getting back what you’re giving out.
However, if you’re thinking, “it was so fun to help BHS this weekend! I like doing good for others and I like when others do good for me.” You will get back what you give out.
Here are two questions to ask yourself:
Is it your thoughts or your actions (or both?) that are preventing you from getting more of what you want?
“What do you want more of?” Whatever your answer, this is what you can give more of.
